Citizens Can Use Latest Technology to Easily Search the European Constitution Online

Ministry of European Affairs and Vivisimo Partner to offer free tool

Pittsburgh, PA/Paris— Vivisimo (www.vivisimo.com), the leading provider of intelligent clustering, search and metasearch software for organizing search results, and the Ministry of European Affairs today announced the availability of a special free tool for readers of the European Constitution at http://www.constitutioneuropeenne.fr.

The new search tool lets government officials, policy makers, reporters, analysts and the general public easily search the more than 400 pages of the European Constitution to quickly focus on areas of interest. Readers can:

  • See, at a glance, the main themes in the document by simply clicking the search button without entering a query,
  • See the results for a query clustered into folders. Instead of returning long lists of results, the Vivisimo Clustering Engine organizes them into relevant folders;
  • Easily go directly to the specific page in the Constitution where the search term occurs;
  • Search within specific sections only, such as "Treaty," "Protocols," "Declaration."

The Ministry of European Affairs in France is responsible for building awareness and educating the citizens about the treaty to help them make an informed decision. "We understand the importance of this document in determining the future of France as a nation and are committed to providing our citizens the tools they need to easily and quickly access, read and analyze the treaty," said Claudie Haigner, Minister Delegate for European Affairs. "Vivisimo's cutting-edge clustering solution lets the media and public use the latest in search technology to quickly find and focus on items of interest to them."

Vivisimo, Inc., which recently opened an office in Paris, is the creator of innovative, award-winning search software that is designed to change the way people search the Web and enterprise content. Instead of presenting long lists of undifferentiated results like traditional search engines, the Vivisimo Clustering Engine organizes the results of a query into folders reflecting the major themes or ideas contained in the results. With Vivisimo, users find the results they are looking for faster and easier and, often, unearth information they did not even know they were seeking.

"Good information is the key to good decisions," said Jerome Pesenti, chief scientist of Vivisimo, Inc. "In this case, the citizens of France have a critical decision to make and, through our work with the Ministry of European Affairs, we are making it faster and easier for voters to navigate the hundreds of pages of the EU Constitution and zero in on the issues that matter most to them. Vivisimo's overall goal is to organize the overwhelming amounts of information available these days so the people can be truly informed and empowered to make better decisions, regardless of the issue or the circumstances."

Millions of visitors use Vivisimo's technology to search the Web with Clusty, while Fortune 500 businesses, government agencies and academia license Vivisimo's products to deliver a superior search experience and increased productivity with unmatched implementation flexibility.
