Vivisimo, Inc., a global provider of advanced document clustering (automatic categorization) and content integration software, has opened an office in the Washington D.C. area. The fast-growing Pittsburgh-based company hired seasoned veteran Frank Atwood to lead the company's business development and partnership programs for the federal market.

"We have already sold our software for use within NASA and we have several other government intelligence clients currently using our software. With Frank's background in the federal market, he is a great fit for our expansion plans."
Vivisimo's innovative document clustering products help government analysts efficiently analyze textual information by providing an instantaneous knowledge map of the information contained within a mass of documents. The software highlights patterns or trends in email, web sources, internal reports, etc. and it enables easy integration of information from different departments or agencies. The multi-lingual capabilities of these products are of particular interest to government agencies that are tracking content from dozens of different languages.
Frank Atwood will lead Vivisimo's D.C. expansion by pursuing new federal contracts and signing resellers or integrators that target the government. Frank has over 20 years Federal Sales experience. His background includes Business Intelligence Software, Data Warehousing, CRM and Performance Management Software. He was a Business Development Manager at General DataComm and was instrumental in developing their Federal Systems Division. Prior to GDC he spent 11 years at Control Data Corporation as Senior Federal Account Manager within their Business Products Division and Computer Systems and Services.
