Vivisimo Velocity Utilizes Windows Search Technologies
New Connector Unifies Desktop and Enterprise Results in Single Search Box
Pittsburgh, PA—Vivisimo (vivisimo.com), a leading provider of search software and expertise, today announced the expansion of its Velocity platform with support for Windows Search technologies, including the integrated desktop search capabilities in Windows Vista and Windows Desktop Search 3.01 for Windows XP. Users on the Vivisimo Velocity enterprise search platform can seamlessly access and manipulate search results across Windows desktop environments as well as multiple applications and databases. Now from a single search box, corporate employees can experience a unified search solution connecting to their desktop, email, enterprise-wide applications and third-party licensed content.
Traditionally, desktop search results from Windows Desktop Search 3.01 for Windows XP or Windows Vista are viewed through a Windows interface, like the deskbar, start menu, or Explorer. Now, by extending the underlying Windows Search platform, customers can see aggregated search results from the desktop alongside those results from other enterprise applications and data sources searched by Velocity. Through Velocity, search results are displayed in neatly organized topical categories, or clusters, for enhanced navigation.
