Vivisimo Named to EContent 100 List
Enterprise Search Company Garners Industry Recognition throughout 2006
Pittsburgh, PA—Vivisimo (vivisimo.com), a leading provider of search software and expertise, today announced its fourth consecutive year on the EContent 100 list—EContent magazine's representation of the 100 companies that lead the digital content industry today. This award is Vivisimo's latest accolade among several other corporate, technology and leadership achievements during the past 12 months, including the Red Herring 100 North American Company and KMWorld's 100 Companies that Matter in Knowledge Management.
"There's a lot more to searching than the G-word," said Michelle Manafy, editor of EContent. "Be it through algorithms, bots, spiders, metatext, and more, people are using more than single-keyword searches to find ever more targeted information on the web or behind the firewall."
EContent delivers essential research, reporting, news, and analysis of content related issues. The EContent judging panel of editorial staff and industry experts utilized a Socialtext wiki to manage the company selection process. The 12 judges carefully reconsidered last year's list members and kept only those companies that continued to lead the industry. For some it meant market share, but for most it meant thought- and technology-leadership, innovation, and even experimentation. The judges each threw new nominations into the fray and the group "eagerly pounced on this year's crop of contenders and only the strongest survived."
In 2006, Vivisimo also secured industry recognition for:
- KMWorld's Trend-Setting Product of the Year 2006 for Vivisimo Velocity 5.0
- Red Herring 100 North America Company
- KMWorld's 100 Companies that Matter in Knowledge Management for the fourth year.
- InfoWorld 2006 Technology of the Year Award for Best Enterprise Search Solution
- 2006 Carnegie Science Center Awards for Excellence in the Information Technology division.
- The Pittsburgh Tech 50—winner in Information Technology category
"Vivisimo's appearance on the EContent 100 list is validation of what our enterprise customers have known all along; that our sophisticated yet easy-to-use technology gives them more and better results exactly the way they want them," said Raul Valdes-Perez, CEO and co-founder of Vivisimo. "The market is responding strongly to the Velocity Search Platform and we anticipate even further adoption of our approach to enterprise search in 2007."
