As announced in January, America Online (AOL) has selected Vivisimo's clustering technology to enhance the AOL.com portal. We believe that clustering engines are a major advance in search and are gratified that AOL has confirmed this judgment. AOL's deployment helps Vivisimo accomplish its mission of transforming how people search - by bringing the value of clustering to tens of millions of users.

Clustering engines organize search results spontaneously, letting users consider many more results at a glance than conventional search engines (or "ranking engines") allow. This lets people become smarter with no greater effort on their part, which is a good deal.

AOL's adoption, together with the growth in traffic at Clusty and in the number of corporate licensees, show that clustering engines are entering the mainstream where they belong.
