Software Engineers

Vivisimo is seeking a skilled software developer to be part of the development group that maintains Vivisimo’s software products and extends them in response to identified needs of specific customers. Product functionality includes crawling, indexing, and searching large data sets and presentation of results through highly configurable complex user interfaces, all operating in a multi-server, fault-tolerant environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Diagnose product issues identified in the field based on a broad understanding of product architecture
• Maintain and improve the existing code base
• Collaborate with members of Strategic Development to determine how best to meet identified customer needs
• Collaborate with QA and Documentation groups on product changes
• Design and develop product extensions to meet specific customer needs
• Clearly communicate concepts and designs with other members of Engineering
• Clearly communicate status and plans

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a closely related field
• 2 to 4 years of work experience, including at least two of:
• C/C++ development
• Development using XML technologies (XPath, XSL, XSD, SOAP)
• .Net and ASPX
• Passion for learning – always wants to learn more
• Problem solving ability – able to break a problem down
• Takes Initiative – does not wait to be told what to do
• High work standards
• Adaptable – able to multitask and switch context easily

OTHER PLUSES:

• Experience with search engines
• Experience developing complex concurrent systems and/or distributed systems
• Experience with modern web technology stack
• Knowledge of Agile concepts and practice
• Java development
• Ruby development
