Senior Software Engineer

Candidate Key Capabilities and Responsibilities

Vivisimo seeks a high performance java developer with leadership qualities to lead its Connector Team, a mission critical group that builds interfaces with third party software, such as Sharepoint, Documentum, SAP, Vignette, etc. The team leader provides day-to-day supervision and works with internal stake-holders to define the team's short-term and long-term goals and deliverables. This is largely a hands-on position requiring a deep technical background with a breadth of experience and perspective to deal—strategically and intellectually—with very complex systems. The team is constantly challenged to develop and quality assure impermeable secure connectors while ensuring that changes made in third party systems can be identified and addressed immediately. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable of XML technologies (Xpath, XSL,Schemas, SOAP, etc.); have the ability to work both on Unix and Windows; have experience with enterprise applications (Exchange, Sharepoint, Documentum, Lotus Notes, SAP, Oracle, etc.); have experience with search engines, text mining or information visualization, information extraction, XML databases; and possess deep reserves of technical curiousity and tenacity.

Candidate Experience and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years Java programming experience
  • Familiar with C/C++ programming
  • Strong software design skills
  • Demonstrated success and leadership experience with small teams of software developers
  • Experience with complex IT environments (Security, Authentication, SSO, Network Storage, Backup, etc.)
  • Ability to learn and apply new information quickly for providing team insight, guidance and direction
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
